This is the virtual home of COMRU. Cumria Ore Mines Rescue Unit. COMRU are volunteers from across Cumbria and beyond. We are here to assist in the rescue of people who find themselves in difficulty in the Ore mines or caves of Cumbria (and occasionally beyond)

Abandoned ore mines and caves can be dangerous places. Their mention here should not be taken to mean that they are safe to enter. There are many ways to enjoy the hertiage of Cumbrian mining or the sport of caving. COMRU exists to help those in trouble, but we would prefer to meet you somewhere other than in a rescue situation.
